This week, after hearing back-to-back episodes from people outside the home contracting world, we bring it back in, keeping it real. Our guest this week was the guest on one of our most downloaded episodes, and it’s no surprise: this guy is living the dream and doing it in a systematic and sustainable way. If you haven’t listened to his other episode, start there first, then come back for a serious knowledge dump!
Interview – Nick May – Walls By Design, Denver, CO
Key points from the interview:
- Nick circles back around to common themes around Home Contractors HQ…systems have been mentioned ad nauseum on our podcast, and there’s a reason. To be successful long-term, you have to create a customer experience that is repeatable and consistently represents your brand and your company.
- Nick’s systems don’t only touch in-the-field processes…they also address how they onboard employees, and how they train them to become leads. Very methodical and insightful.
- Having a growing business means being aggressive. This means hiring in advance, and establishing goals that require you to stretch yourself out. If you want more, you have to be willing to leap out into the unknown a bit.
- A key to Nick’s recent success in quadrupling (?!?) his monthly revenue had to do with knowing his customer, and knowing his cost to acquire that customer. In order to narrow that down, he had to pull himself out of the field. Can you focus on that “one thing” enough to stop the things you’re good at to do greater things? Things that are more valuable long term?
